One of the elements I have added to my workout regime throughout the years has been to use the sauna. I typically end my morning workout with a 20 minute sauna session. I do this for multiple reasons. One reason is that it warms and loosens my muscles, making my stretching more beneficial. Another reason is that it forces me to drink more water (2 Liters) and this flushes out any toxins out of my system. After my morning workout, I’m usually pretty amped so the sauna is a way to bring back some inner peace and calm myself down. I have found that it helps to ground me before I start my day. There are many other added benefits to using a sauna, these are just a few of the reasons why I do. I recommend starting off with 10 minute increments in the sauna if you are a newbie and always bring plenty of water.
